How to repair aluminum extrusion dies?

The main contents of correcting the processing molds for extruded aluminum profiles include: adjusting the proportion of metal flow distribution (such as adjusting the size of the分流 holes or guiding grooves in the molds, the depth of the electrochemical drainage grooves, etc.); adjusting the contact friction coefficient, obstruction interception and other methods (such as base obstruction, etc.); and adjusting the length of the working section of the mold holes in various ways to change the speed at which the metal flows out of the mold holes, so that the metal can flow out uniformly from the mold holes and produce qualified extruded products. Therefore, mold repair personnel must master the relevant inspection techniques proficiently in order to correctly analyze and judge the causes of product defects, and thus carry out effective mold corrections.
The proportion of metal supply is mainly determined by the designers and manufacturers of the extrusion aluminum profile processing molds. Once the molds are manufactured, the proportion of metal distribution is basically fixed. The designers must strive for a reasonable distribution. If the distribution is unreasonable, it will lead to uneven flow rates in different parts of the profiles, causing certain difficulties in mold repair. In severe cases, it may even prevent mold repair. For most molds, although the amount of metal distribution has been determined, the friction resistance between the metal and the mold can be changed, thereby achieving the purpose of adjusting the metal flow rate.
The friction force between the metal and the mold consists of three parts: the friction force between the metal and the mold surface, the friction force between the working sections of the mold holes, and the friction force resulting from the relative movement of the metal. Improving the friction conditions between the metal and the mold surface can help regulate the flow rate of the metal. Altering the distribution of the metal, the friction conditions, the length of the working sections of the mold holes, and the extrusion speed can all affect the flow rate of the metal out of the mold holes. The mold correction mainly focuses on adjusting the metal distribution ratio, the contact friction conditions, and the length of the working sections of the mold holes, among other effective methods to change the flow characteristics of the metal, enabling it to flow uniformly out of the mold holes and produce qualified profile products. To overcome the defects caused by uneven metal flow, it is necessary to study how to make the metal flow rates at different parts of the profile surface consistent. This is a principle that mold design should follow and a basic principle that mold repair personnel should adhere to. Although there are many factors affecting the flow rate of the metal out of the mold hole, they can be summarized into two basic factors:
Whether the distribution of metal volume for each part of the profile cross-section is appropriate. That is, whether the ratio of the cross-sectional areas of each part of the profile is equal to the ratio of the metal flow volume of the corresponding supply part.
When metal flows, the magnitude of the frictional resistance it encounters decreases as the amount of metal supplied to a certain part of the profile increases. In this case, the outflow speed of the mold cavity in that part of the profile becomes faster, while the opposite is true when the amount of metal supplied is reduced.
How to repair the aluminum profile extrusion processing mold? In summary, it is: correct analysis and judgment, and reasonable adjustment of the metal flow rate.
