1. Corrosion resistance
The density of industrial aluminum profiles is only 2.7g/cm³, which is approximately one-third of the densities of steel, copper or brass (7.83g/cm³, 8.93g/cm³ respectively). In most environmental conditions, including air, water (or salt water), petrochemicals and many chemical systems, aluminum can exhibit excellent corrosion resistance.
2. Conductivity
It is often chosen due to its excellent conductivity. On a basis of the same weight, the conductivity of aluminum is nearly half that of copper. It is more material-efficient. Although the price is higher than that of ordinary steel, it can maximize the material savings during design. The load-bearing parts can be designed to be thicker, while the non-load-bearing parts can be designed to be thinner.
3. Thermal Conductivity
The thermal conductivity of aluminum alloy is approximately 50-60% that of copper, which is beneficial for manufacturing heat exchangers, evaporators, heating appliances, cookware, automotive cylinder heads and radiators. Industrial aluminum profiles are lightweight and, for the same strength, they are only half the weight of other materials. This means that both transportation and assembly can save a lot of costs.
4. Non-magnetic
Industrial aluminum profiles are non-magnetic, which is an important characteristic in the electrical and electronic industries. Industrial aluminum profiles cannot spontaneously combust, which is crucial for applications involving handling or contact with flammable or explosive materials.
5. Usability
The mechanical processing properties of industrial aluminum profiles are very good. For various types of wrought aluminum alloys and cast aluminum alloys, as well as in various states after these alloys are produced, the processing characteristics vary greatly, which requires special machine tools or techniques.
6. Malleability
The tensile strength, yield strength, ductility and the corresponding processing hardening rate control the variation of the allowable deformation.
7. Reversibility
The recyclability of aluminum is very high. The properties of recycled aluminum are almost the same as those of original aluminum. It is corrosion-resistant, has a long lifespan, and aluminum profiles themselves are corrosion-resistant metals, so they do not easily rust. Moreover, the surfaces of industrial aluminum profiles have all undergone anodic oxidation treatment, and the hard oxide film can effectively protect the aluminum profile matrix for a long time. Even in harsh outdoor environments, they can be used stably for several decades.
