What are the advantages of electrostatic spraying compared to other spraying methods? Firstly, electrostatic spraying technology is a new type of spraying method. It does not require traditional liquid coatings or primers. Even uneven base surfaces can be made as smooth as a mirror.
Compared with various adhesives used in traditional coatings, electrostatic spraying can apply paint, achieving the effect of "harmless to humans and animals". In these two environments and human bodies, we can observe that the appearance of the electrostatic spraying coating and the electrostatic spraying process are both new spraying techniques. It does not require traditional liquid coatings or primers. Even uneven base surfaces can be as smooth as a mirror. Compared with various adhesives used in traditional coatings, electrostatic spraying can apply paint, achieving the effect of "harmless to humans and animals". In these two environments and human bodies, we can observe that the appearance of the electrostatic spraying coating, in terms of color expression, coating adhesion, or particle mechanical strength, is far superior to traditional spraying coatings.
Secondly, the curing time of the coating is very short. Modern processing techniques directly use spraying followed by high-temperature baking, which enables the coating sprayed on the surface of the substrate to quickly cure in an extremely short period of time. Therefore, the wear resistance and durability of metal shells and frameworks such as those for cars, ships, and aircraft are excellent. Moreover, the anti-corrosion ability required is also higher than that of liquid coatings used in general construction projects.
Of course, not all electrostatic spraying is done by automatic robotic spraying. In some cases, we need to do it manually. However, the skill requirements and labor intensity for workers are much lower than those of the previous spray machines. Moreover, due to the use of electrostatic spraying powder, some inherent problems of liquid coatings, such as peeling and spraying, do not occur. The electrostatic spraying process and effect are naturally superior to those of liquid coating spraying.
Electrostatic spraying requires the addition of conductive products to the coating. The resistance value of the coating is between 10 to the power of 7 and 10 to the power of 8 ohms, so the coating is less likely to generate static electricity.
We apply a coating to some equipment to enhance its lifespan and effectively prevent dust and erosion. However, during our work, we need to pay attention to the requirements of electrostatic spraying. Only by using the correct spraying method can we make better use of the equipment.
When applying the paint, pay attention to measuring the viscosity of the coating. The viscosity should be measured 1-2 times per shift. If the viscosity increases by more than 10% compared to the original viscosity, solvents should be added promptly. After adding the solvents, stop the immersion coating operation. After stirring, measure the viscosity again and then continue the operation.
2. To prevent the solvent from spreading in the workshop and to avoid dust from falling into the paint cans, the immersion tanks should be protected.
3. Enhance equipment ventilation to prevent the hazards of solvent vapors; pay attention to the arrangement of fire prevention measures and the regular inspection of the painting production line.
4. For the coating production line, attention should be paid to the installation and suspension of the coatings. To ensure that the workpieces are in a proper position during the dip coating process, the hanging frames and the suspension methods of the objects were designed through pre-dip coating tests on the coating production line. The plane of the coating should be nearly vertical, and the other planes should form an angle of 10-40 degrees with the horizontal plane, allowing the remaining coating to flow smoothly on the coating surface.
5. The thickness of the paint film mainly depends on the lifting speed of the objects on the coating production line and the viscosity of the paint film.
In conclusion, we need to have a basic understanding of electrostatic spraying. Only by mastering the correct electrostatic spraying techniques can we prevent equipment damage and contamination. The treatment of the equipment surface is not limited to electrostatic spraying; it also includes surface electrophoresis, which can extend the equipment's service life.
